1966 - 2026:
60 Years of Naturist Associations!

A lot has happened in 60 years, but the commitment to naturism and the love for this environment remain as strong as ever!

Discover the key moments in the history of the Morbihan Naturist Association, which have shaped and contributed to the history of naturism in Brittany and France.

1966: The Creation

A group of committed naturists created the ANM (Association Naturiste Morbihan) in November 1966. At the time, it was a departmental branch of the Club du Soleil.

They opened the Cléguer site, one of the first naturist sites in Brittany.

They were also involved in advocating for and officially recognizing the first naturist beach in Brittany, in Erdeven.

In 1970, to better organize these two objectives, two management committees were created. One was dedicated to advocating for the naturist beach in Erdeven, and the other to managing and developing the Cléguer site.

The Erdeven Struggle

In Erdeven, a real battle was waged by the ANM to practice naturism on Erdeven beach. This practice had been developing since the post-war period, but the town hall refused.

A struggle ensued for several years to make Kerminihy the first official naturist beach in Brittany.

Authorization from the authorities was obtained in 1973, with a minimum standard of clothing required.

Following this decision, the town council resigned. An anti-nudist militia formed and attacked naturists on the beach.

Meanwhile, a naturist campsite was established in 1971 near the beach.

It wasn't until 1983 that a municipal decree was issued authorizing naturism on the beach.

Summer 1980: The Swimming Pool

Cléguer is a very pleasant area, but members regretted the lack of a closer beach.

They then conceived the idea of building a swimming pool.

Construction began in 1980 and was completed in 1981.

Building on this momentum, the 1982 Inter-club event brought together more than 200 participants.

1991: The Turning Point

The ANM association split into two entities:

  • CNM (Club Naturiste Morbihannais) for the Cléguer site, which it fully owned.
  • CNBS (Club Naturiste Bretagne Sud) in Belz for the Erdeven beach and their site, which had been established in 1971.

  • CNM maintained its non-profit approach but sought to develop the campsite. It affiliated with the French Naturist Federation that same year.

CNBS adopted a more commercial approach to managing its site.

    From 1995 onwards: The Builders

During these years, many families were very active at the Cléguer site.

Several activities were organized, such as Easter egg hunts, Christmas gifts, shows, and a vegetable garden.…

Young people were numerous and played a significant role. Several projects were launched with the "Alizé Bretagne" association, including a youth center, leisure weekends, the creation of shows, and training courses for lifeguards and activity leaders.

    The site was transformed…

A boat was installed to create a recreational space for young people.

The sanitary block was built in 1995… The youth center in 2000… The pétanque court in 2002…

It was during this period that the site received its 2-star rating.

    2000: The New Clubhouse

To continue modernizing the grounds, improve the communal living environment for members, and enhance the experience for vacationers, a new living space was needed.

The current Clubhouse was built in 2000, partially funded by European grants.

Meanwhile, improvements continued, as did family activities (Christmas, Easter egg hunts, …)

    2026: Continuity

Currently, around thirty members participate in the upkeep, operation, and activities of the site, while also enjoying their own space year-round.

The association now has an online booking service, a new website, and is active on social media.

In 2025, the association signed an agreement with the Public Office for the Breton Language.

Welcoming members who are also members of a naturist federation allows us to:

  • support the democratization of naturism
  • share our values
  • contribute to the preservation and improvement of the site and its infrastructure.

  • In recent years, we have seen the arrival of younger members, as well as families.

    A momentum to be maintained!
